ENVIT was founded with the aim to transfer newly developed soil remediation technologies from the lab and pilot scale into praxis and on the market. In addition to our own, new technology of soil washing, we offer also other types of soil remediation, from beginning analysis to the final execution of remediation.   • Risk assessment is given according to the results of measurements of the concentration and bioavailability of pollutants in soils, sediments and waste. Risk assessment is evaluated in accordance with the Slovenian and international legislation and standards.

    Pollutants in soils and sediments are dangerous only if they are transferred into the environment. In our laboratory, we perform laboratory techniques to determine the mobility and bioavailability of pollutants in different solid media.

    Mobility assays:

    • Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) (US EPA 1311) for the assessment of mobility of organic and inorganic pollutants in soils, sediments and wastes;
    • One-stage leaching procedure (SIST EN 12457-4) for the waste characterization.

    Bioavailability assays:

    • In vitro Physiologically Based Extraction Tests (PBET) to assess the bioaccessibility of metals in human digestive system;
    • Bioaccumulation assays with bio-indicator species for the assessment of the bioavailability of metals and their magnification potential in the food chain;
    • Phyto-availability assays for the assessment of the metal transfer from soils and sediments into plants.
  • We perform feasibility studies for different soil, sediment and waste remediation technologies in order to determine the best remediation approach for each investigated situation. Engineering, technological, economic, environmental and social aspects are included in the studies. The feasibility studies are firstly performed in laboratory and then on a pilot scale. The tested remediation techniques are optimized and customized throughout the study for each investigated case.
